Settling the Score

From the global rise of Hip Hop and rap stardom to the war on drugs and the prison industrial complex, the film recounts the dramatic story of John Forté, and settles the score on the continuous cultural and political impact of the 90’s.

The film is directed by Opendox (Petter Ringbom & Marquise Stillwell) and produced together with Truant Pictures and Solani Media. Filmmaker J.C. Chandor serves as Executive Producer along with Opendox.

The Russian Winter

John Forté was a Grammy-nominated musician in The Fugees at 21 and a federal prison inmate at 26. When his prison sentence was remarkably commuted in 2008, Forté was given a second chance to share his talents with the world. Chronicling his concert tour across Russia, this inspirational documentary takes us on Forté’s personal journey—one that’s as much about having his voice heard as having his music heard.

Asunden

Hybrid Feature / In Development

After an environmental activist goes missing on a Swedish island, his long departed American mother returns and finds a community torn apart by the fight over limestone mining in the Asunden forest. Inspired by actual events on the island of Gotland, the film explores the fissures in a community and in a broken family.

Asunden was selected to the MIDPOINT Feature Launch script and development program where it won the Rotterdam Lab Scholarship Award. The project received a research grant from Gotland Film Lab at the Ingmar Bergman Estate.
